DepicT; Production Diary

This is my DepictT production diary. Here I will be keeping up to how and what I am doing within my group as I am going along. From the start to the finish.

30-09-14
Firstly we had discussed our story line in a little more detail so that we know what we want to be happening and to also be going on. We had learnt about shot types and how to put them into the story board for the lesson which has helped with starting off our project. After this we got back into our groups and made up a shot list, knowing now how we want the story to go we made up just over 21 different shot with what the camera angle was going to be, what and who is going to be in the scene and what was going to be happening. With this we were then able to start creating our story board.

As a class we had gone through different sheets of paper work that we would have been needed to be filled out in order to go ahead with the filming. The sheets where; an adult release form, a minor release form and A location recce form. We then got in to our groups, one person was left to carry on with the drawings on the story board and the other two went out to the locations that we were going to be using and filled in the location recce forms.

Today we carried on from yesterday. We have now made a checklist for our group and printed out a number of other pieces of paper work that we need, these are; 4 adult release forms, a budgeting form, a location release, a production schedule form and a risk assessment form, and had them all filled out. We had got all the people that we needed to sign to be a part of it all, to sign. We have also made our own lists of; the equipment needed, the props we need, the costumes we need to get... And the casting of how many characters we needed and who would be playing them.

Today again, we have kept to carrying on with what we had been doing on the previous days. We have learnt about the information that should be on the risk assessment forms and the budgeting forms, and just added to them. Now we have completed the story board and all of the other part of the paper work. The only thing left is the email that we are going to be writing up to the police next lesson. We had also gone out and taken pictures of the locations we are going to be using, and here are some of the ones that Connors has taken...

Today is the paper work deadline. We have finalised all of the paper work, typed out most of the hand written work and got it all in order. We have also emailed the police, informing them what we are planning to be doing.  We are all done and ready for when we start the filming. Here is the paper work that we have completed and filled in…  We have also named it L'espirit Noir

13/10/14
Finally today we got all the left over parts on to our blogs. We now have all of the information and documents on our blogs and ready to go. Today we had also started filming, which has not quiet gone to plan because of there being really heavy and bad rain. We did start to film but not as we had planned... A few changes had to be made on when the filming was taking place. we have also made Flipsnack's with the pictures of our work on http://www.flipsnack.com/

Today we have had much better weather. We had carried on with the filming and managed to complete it all. We have checked through all of the footage to see it is looking okay. And it is all better than what we had planned it to be. Now that we have finished we uploaded the work on to the computer so that we will not lose any of the work, now we are ready for editing. I feel that today has been very successful with the make-up and camera work that Poppy had done and the acting by myself, Stuart and Connor.

16/10/14
Today we started the editing. We had managed to find the effects that we wanted to make the movie in black and white, therefore making it more of a movie noir. We have, so far, managed to stick to the timings that are on the story board. This is helping us to be able to keep to the 90 seconds task. It is going slowly but we are constantly making progress.

Today we are carrying on with the editing from yesterday. We have had trouble with a jump cut at the beginning of the clip, so we tried to put different transitions in so that it would cover it up but it was not working. If anything it was making it worse. So we had swapped the shot after it to be the shot before it, now it is looking good. As we are working through the clips we have found that the camera jumps a little bit. This is because of us having a slightly dodgy tripod, but we have made it fit in with the rest of the movie. We now have officially got all of the scenes in order, now we need the sound effects, the music and to change the colour of the film to make it more noir. We have also managed to keep it at 90 seconds exactly.

20/10/2014
Today we have nearly finished the entire movie. We have managed to get the rest of all of the sound that we need throughout the movie along with the music. There have been a few errors and troubles with getting the music to follow on for each other. But also for the sound effects to be able to fit perfectly within the hits of each scene. We just have a few little tweaks to do before we are complete but that will be for the next lesson.

21/10/2014
Today we have officially finished the entire movie. We have got all of the music and the sound effects that we need and we, as a group, are very happy with the outcome of what we have managed to produce. And it is now ready to be uploaded.
